Boca's new reinforcement and Spanish midfielder, Ander Herrera, injured his lumbar area and will not be able to participate in the next match against Unión de Santa Fe on Wednesday at 7:15 PM at the Estadio 15 de Abril.
Herrera's debut against Argentinos Juniors at La Bombonera did not meet expectations, ending in a 0-0 draw with few goal opportunities for Boca. The Spaniard, a former player of Athletic Club de Bilbao, had difficulties adapting to the Argentine style of play and suffered a strong foul that could have led to his expulsion.
The players from Argentinos Juniors did not give Herrera any respite, who showed signs of pain in his lower back during the first half. The situation worsened, and he had to be substituted 20 minutes into the second half by debutant Rodrigo Battaglia.
After returning to training at the Ezeiza facility, it was confirmed that Herrera will need to undergo medical tests to determine the severity of his injury. Therefore, he will not be available for the match against Unión de Santa Fe. However, he is expected to recover in time to face Huracán on Sunday at La Bombonera.
